About Me
My name is Jamila and I was born and raised in Detroit, MI (#TeamEastside). Fashion Style Detroit was created back in August of 2010 as a way of showcasing my love for all things fashion. After graduating from college, I knew that I wasn’t going to land my dream job in fashion right away, so I started this blog as a way to stay connected to the wonderful world of fashion.
I’ve always had a love for fashion and I wanted to share it with others. If it’s reviewing the latest beauty product, showing off the latest trend or just giving tips on how to look great for less, I want to inspire others to look and feel their best. “I believe everyone has a story, so why not tell it through fashion”. I want to show people that there is more than one way of dressing. Following a trend doesn’t automatically make you a great dresser, it’s the way you put the clothes together that makes your style personal.
If I had to describe my style in three words, I would say Minimal. Classic. Feminine. I live in jeans (and sometimes leggings), I love a simple look as a way of expressing my style. If I’m feeling daring, I’ll add on a statement piece. I’m also a fan of vintage pieces and bold prints.
After a few years of blogging, I realized that there are many opportunities that can come from some of the most unexpected places. Who knew a hobby would turn into a passion that I never knew existed. If there’s something that you’ve been wanting to do, do it now. It’s never going to be a perfect time.
