No one ever said being a mother would be easy, but there are a few moms who raised kids, kept a clean house, worked demanding jobs, kept their husbands in line all while staying stylish. These t.v. moms made the impossible and unrealistic life of motherhood seem so easy and effortless.
Clair Huxtable
“The Cosby Show”
We all love t.v. mom Clair Huxtable. This full time mother, wife and lawyer knew how to hold down her family and career all while staying fashionably on point. I enjoyed Clair’s style, it stood out making her one of my favorite stylish iconic t.v. moms. When mother Clair walked into a room, she owned it, she kept her head high and worked it.
Angela Bowers
“Who’s The Boss?”
When I look at Angela Bowers sense of fashion, the word powerful comes to mind. This high powered advertising executive not only held down a demanding job, but she was also a full time single mother who managed to stay fashionably fly.
Mona Robinson
“Who’s The Boss?”
This free spirited, man-crazed well styled mother and grandmother knew how to dress. Like mother like daughter Mona’s style was trendy and bold.
Peggy Bundy
“Married With Children”
Peggy wasn’t the traditional t.v. mom, she never cooked or cleaned. Her day pretty much consisted of sitting on the couch watching t.v. eating bon bons. But it was something about her big red hair and her skin tight spandex pants she always wore. I loved her waist belts and bold prints style. I would totally take ideas from her style and modernize them.
Vivian Banks
“The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air”
Who doesn’t love (the original) Aunt Viv, she was an awesome mother with a great sense of style. Though she was only on the show for three seasons, every episode she was “sharp”. Not only did she look the part, but her look fit her personality of being a feisty no nonsense mom who always had her family’s best interest at heart. Her 90s style look can still be worn today with a contemporary mix.
Laura Petrie
“The Dick Van Dyke Show”
Laura was not your traditional stay at home mom during the 60’s. She was known for her signature cigarette pants that she often wore. I love this moms classic shapes and styles that she so frequently displayed, becoming one of my favorite iconic style t.v. moms.
June Cleaver
“Leave It To Beaver”
During the late fifties early sixties June Cleaver was one well dressed mom. I loved her style, it was very classic yet simplistic. Her nostalgic sense of style is inspiration that I try and incorporate into my personal style today.
Last but not least there’s Cookie Lyon, one of TVs most current fashionable moms. Cookie is a tell it like it is, willing to do anything to protect and support her family type of mom. She speaks her mind and she’s real. No matter what challenges they face, they stick together as a family and pull through and yet she still manages to “slay”! If this was my mom, I would totally raid her closet.
Who are some of your favorite t.v. moms?
Happy Mother’s Day to all you beautiful, fashionable moms out there!
