With this cold winter air, I find myself constantly applying chapstick. If not, my lips become very dry. Then I end up biting off the dead skin, which is not good. I usually exfoliate my face twice a week, but I never really focus on my lips.
So recently I’ve started exfoliating my lips, to help keep them smooth and moisturized by scrubbing away dry dead skin cells.
If you want pretty lips, then this is the method for you, plus it’s helpful if you’re a fan of matte lippies.
Great thing about this, is that’s an easy quick at-home DIY!
What you’ll need:
Sugar (I had white in my cabinet)
Olive Oil
or Honey (whatever you prefer)
I used a small bowl and added about a teaspoon and a half of sugar and I freestyled pouring in the olive oil until it made a paste. This will vary depending on how much you want to make.
I dabbed the exfoliate on my lips and rubbed my lips together for about 60 seconds, then removed it with a damp towel.
Next add your favorite lip balm to keep lips moisturized. Your lips will thank you.
If you’re not a fan of DIY, you can purchase an already made lip scrub, like The Kiss Lip Scrub from Lush.
How do you keep your lips soft during these cold winter months?
Allison Jones
Thank you SO much for sharing this! My lips have been peeling like crazy this winter. I’ll definitely be making this DIY scrub.

These are tried and true favs for me. I have soup coolers, so it looks extraordinarily odd when ever mine get cracked and dry. Thanks for the tips.

KeishaThanks for stopping by : )
Shayla
Thank you for the post! One of the things I hate most about winter is dry, chapped lips.
Miss Jamila
ShaylaMe too, if I don’t keep my lips Moisturized, I find myself always licking them and that does not help.
Kemkem
This is such a great idea! There is nothing worse than peeling lips. I nursed one tube of lip balm for a year as l couldn’t find it! Going to try this 🙂
Miss Jamila
KemkemYes, I hate the feel of dry lips.
Janelle
Oh my! Totally cool. I will seriously have to give this a try because I am religious for wearing lip balm and my lips are always getting dry/cracked quick. I try to stick with just one kind/brand for now, but I think it’s best to switch up right?
Miss Jamila
JanelleI usually use between two different chap sticks because I’m focused on keeping my lips moisturized. I would switch it up if one is no longer working for you, but if you find one that keeps your lips feeling just right, I’d stick with it.
Holly
I used a scrub every so often. Even more now that it is winter.
Stacie
I stay using some sort of lip balm. I have at least 5 around the house. Yeah, I’m addicted to it.
Miss Jamila
StacieI try to keep one in reach at all times, I have quite a few as well.
Reginia Cordell
I usually exfoliate with a soft brush, then moisturize with Vaseline.
Miss Jamila
Reginia CordellNever thought to use a brush, thanks for the tip.
