There’s no denying that Detroit is home to some very talented people. This past Friday, Michigan Fashion Week hosted its 10th-anniversary fashion show, which featured over 20 local designers. MFW is a four-day event that brings a one-of-a-kind fashion experience to Michigan.
The theme of the show titled “It’s a Jungle Out There” took place at Eastern Market at shed 3. MFW showcased everything from streetwear to high fashion. I enjoyed seeing all the beautiful original designs and the talent that graced the runway, from the vibrant colors, intricate designs, and silhouettes. The show was a lot of fun and a great success.
As expected, many of the showgoers came dressed to impress. One thing I never turn down is an opportunity to get dressed up. Now that we’re getting back in the swing of things since the pandemic started, people are dressing up again and ditching their loungewear attire.
One of my favorite collections from the show was Sew Modest, created by designer LaTerry Mohsin. For me, her designs stood out and instantly caught my attention. Her designs are bold statement pieces with interesting textures that I love.
Detroit is known for fashion, having our style, and creating trends. If you missed MFW, then you missed out on a real treat.
