7. Adopt A Family
Looking to give back this Holiday Season, why not adopt a family for the Holidays and bring smiles to the faces of those who are in need. I usually donate to Toys for Tots or adopt a child for the holiday’s, I’ve never adopted a family, but I would love to bless others this Holiday season. For more information on how to adopt a family, visit Here.
8. Go Sledding
If you love playing in the snow, then going sledding should be right up your alley. As of yet, Detroit hasn’t been hit with a ton of snow. It snowed once about two weeks ago, but it melted rather quickly. When the snow finally decides to fall, why not relive a few childhood memories and make snow angels, build a snowman, have a snowball fight, and if the amount of snow permits, go sledding.
9. Attend (or throw) An Ugly Christmas Sweater Party
Another fun way to get into the Holiday spirit is to attend or throw an ugly Christmas sweater party. Everyone has at least one hideous Christmas sweater that they’ve received as a gift, that’s currently hiding somewhere in the back of their drawer or closet. Or maybe you’re lucky like me to have never been gifted an “ugly Christmas sweater”. Well don’t fret, you’re in luck, you can find tons of them at your local thrift store. Grab a few friends and make a night of it.
10. Start Your Own Holiday Tradition
Every year we get caught in the hustle and bustle of the Holiday Season. Why not start a new tradition among your family and friends. There are many things to do as a family, like taking time out and spending the day watching Holiday movies and leaving all electronic devices in another room. Try spending a day making homemade ornaments. Spend an evening singing Christmas Karaoke songs. Go out for brunch on Christmas morning before or after opening gifts. Whatever way you decide to spend time with your loved ones, you can create your own traditions how you please.
Not from the Metro Detroit area, no worries. You can always check out your local city’s events calendar and see what Holiday events they have to offer to get you and your family in the Holiday spirit this season.
