As we prepare to mark the end of another year, there are still a few days left before we say farewell to 2015 and welcome in the New Year. I’ve personally never been big on partying it up on New Year’s Eve, I usually opt for a night in with my family and friends. A few years ago I spent New Year’s Eve with my boyfriend and some friends, we played games, ate, laughed, and brought in the new year watching the ball drop. It was a fun night and an awesome way to end the year. The past couple of years, me and my boyfriend usually order pizza and binge on all the junk food that I’d vowed to give up in the new year and watch movies until the countdown for the new year begins. It’s pretty much become our tradition. If you’re still debating or just have no plans at this point, I’ve listed a few ideas of things to do, to help you welcome in a New Year.
- Enjoy Company: Be around those you love.
- Host a Pamper Party: Bring in the New Year while leaving behind the worries of 2015.
- Family Game Night: Nothing like starting off a New Year with the laughter of family and friends.
- Slumber Party: Invite your girlfriends over for a night of desserts, wine, and reflecting on the ups and downs of 2015.
- Create a Vision Board: Spend the evening creating a list of your goals, plans, and expectations for the New Year.
- New Years’ Eve Getaway: If you haven’t had the chance to travel this year, there’s still time for a quick getaway before the New Year arrives.
- Go to Church: Spend the evening in praise thanking God for bringing you through another year.
- Attend a New Year’s Eve Party: If you’re into the party scene, you can always check your local listings to find all the hottest New Year’s Eve celebrations.
- Make Your Own New Year’s Eve Countdown: Feeling creative, why not create your own NYE countdown. Pinterest has some great New Year’s Eve countdown DIYs.
- Create A Time Capsule: Collect photos and other things from the year that had an impact on your life and put them into a time capsule( a box, envelope, etc). You can open it next New Year’s Eve.
- Create a Bucket List For 2016: Create a list of things you would like to do in the New Year. You’ll have 365 days to complete them. Time to take a step out of your comfort zone.
- Write a letter to yourself and open it next New Year’s Eve: This is one of my favorite things to do. By writing a letter to yourself, you can see how much growth and change has occurred within a year. I like to write down everything that’s going on in my life at that exact moment.
- Clean Out Your Closet/ Get Rid of Clutter from 2015: Have a lot of unnecessary stuff? Spend the day making room in your home or personal space for the New Year.
- Detox: Rid your mind, body, and soul from all the toxins of 2015.
- Netflix and Chill: Grab your favorite snacks, turn on your favorite film, and bring in the New Year!
Whatever you decide to do, have a fun, safe, and prosperous New Year!

Great ideas! I normally bring in the New Year at home, nothing exciting. This year, I’ve decided to see one of my favorite artists of all time, Lauryn Hill. Too excited!
