Meet Designer Armando Cabral
Armando Cabra was born in the small West African nation of Guinea-Bissau in 1982 but raised in Lisbon, Portugal. In 2006 Armando moved to New York to pursue a career in modeling. He landed his first modeling gig with Meltin’Pot and Ozwald Boateng ad campaigns. He has walked the runway for many designers such as Michael Kors, Lacoste, Emanuel Ungaro among others. He also signed an exclusive contract to do Calvin Klein’s show at the Milan fashion week. Armando has also been seen on the pages of the J.Crew catalogue.
Besides being seen on runways or in catalogues, Armando is also an entrepreneur. With his love of footwear, he has created a line of shoes branded, Armando Cabra. “I love shoes and I have always dreamt of having my own brand.” With no formal education in shoe design, it allows him the advantage of looking at the product from a consumer’s point of view. “That makes my shoes have design, comfort, and personality.” The shoes are designed using Armando’s personal taste as a starting point, and attempt to reflect his image. In terms of lifestyle, he wants to respond to the needs of a man who has a career, has fun, travels, and takes care of himself.
Armando Cabral shoes can be found in fourteen countries, including China, the United States, and Portugal, as well as at the luxury retail website Mr Porter.
