In The World Of African American Fashion; Meet Designer Kimberly Goldson…
Kimberly Goldson was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. Fashion became apart of her life at a very young age. While attending the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) she majored in Fashion Merchandising Management, but the design aspect was something she taught herself. At the beginning of her career, she designed custom pieces for clients in Atlanta. She also worked as a production assistant for several clothing labels and as a manager for the U.S. Census Bureau.
Deciding to take her career further, Kimberly auditioned for Season 9 of Project Runway. Managing to survive each challenge and impressing the judges with the looks she presented on the runway, won her a spot as one of the four finalists on Project Runway.
One of the perks of being a finalist on the show, Kimberly had the opportunity to show her ten look collection at the Spring/Summer 2012 Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. Her collection received rave reviews in the press, including an article in the New York Post predicting that she would win the entire season.
Kimberly is grateful for the opportunities, relationships, and exposure she received from her Project Runway experience. Having learned more about who she is as a designer through the show, Kimberly Goldson (the brand), is a focus of that evolution.
